Thomas Tompion No. 189 SOLD
A rare 17th century William & Mary walnut veneered striking longcase clock of month duration by this famous maker. The walnut case with a shallow caddy top and three brass finials, turned pillars with brass capitals and fine fretwork, the door and base with chevron inlaid panels. The 11 inch square dial with foliate engraving between the winged cherub spandrels, fine original hands and signed to the base, Thomas Tompion, Londini fecit. The 30 day movement with latched dial and six latched pillars, bolt and shutter maintaining power, anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike, the clock number is stamped to the backplate.
