Paul Du Pin No. 248 SOLD
An extremely rare and important early 18th century George I scarlet japanned longcase clock with 6 month duration and rise/fall regulation to the 8 pillared movement. The oak case veneered in pear wood and decorated with japanning of the highest grade and in exceptionally original condition. The 12 inch dial with wheatear engraving to the borders and engraving to the arch either side of the rise/fall regulation dial.
Paul Du Pin worked in London and Geneva, there is a fine longcase by him in the Fitzwilliam Museum.
